Up in Smoke

Being around secondhand smoke is just as deadly as smoking.  According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, secondhand smoke is listed as a Group A carcinogen.  This rating is used only for substances proven to cause cancer.  Secondhand smoke is harmful because 70% – 80% of it comes from the tip of a burning cigarette which is not filtered.  It causes sore throat, cough, eye irritation, and also leads to long-term health problems such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, asthma, breast and lung cancer.
